My Sexy Date ~ @MySexySaturday #MySexySaturday #Saturday7 #MSSAuthors

This week’s theme is My Sexy Date. Not every couple falls in love at first sight. Sure, many do know the moment they see someone but what about those who don’t. They go on dates. Sometimes lots of dates. Sometimes not enough dates. Hopefully there is at least one they can consider a sexy date. The type where fireworks goes off from the moment they are picked up. This week is about those dates that turn into that special one.
It doesn't have to start out nice or wonderful or even memorable but at some point during the date, life changes. Suddenly what we know has become skewed and different. We've fallen for someone and hard. This week is about that fall, about what our characters feel, think and want. And it’s all about making it sexy. As writers, we love putting those words down and getting them just right.

In this excerpt from Rose of Crimson, Kate sees Matthias in that special, life changing light. This is not the first kiss they shared, but it is toe curling one.

Her heart raced, taking her on a journey to a sweet intoxication. She was dying for his kiss. “Is that why you took my hand right at the beginning?”
“Not the only reason. I guess I’m used to us holding hands.” He gave her hand a soft squeeze.
A whimper escaped her, his answer leaving her bereft of words. The soundtrack ended and the world stopped. The anticipation of his lips on hers hung in the air and pulled her closer to him.
He leaned toward her. An eloquent silence filled the car while he touched his lips to hers. The softness of his kiss raced shivers down her spine. His mouth teased and prodded her to open while wild flames of desire licked her insides. A deep moan slipped out of him when their tongues met in a ravenous kiss, his mouth exploring and dominating all at once. Heaviness pressed on her breasts, and her core ignited. What if he asked to take this to the bedroom?
He cupped her face in his hands, broke the kiss and pressed his forehead to hers. “No, Kate. No. We can’t…I can’t.”
The fantasy shattered and coldness engulfed her. She licked her lips, her mouth dry. “Why not?”
“I lost her, Kate. I lost my wife less than a year ago and without her…” He gulped. His warm breath tickled her skin. “I’m lost too.”
Her heart clenched. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close. The pain was all too fresh for him, but she had to ask. “Was your wife Dobrila?”
Stupid question, she realized. Who else could have been? He couldn’t mourn anyone like this.
He pulled away from her and sunk into the backrest of the seat. His nod was barely noticeable, but confirmed her answer. By the deep crease between his eyebrows, she suspected he had more to tell but couldn't quite get the words out. Not wanting to pry, she chose her next question carefully.

  1. Poignant, powerful moment. I do wonder what her question is going to be, how she's going to handle this delicate situation.
