This week’s theme is our sexy Thanksgiving. Although the Thanksgiving in Canada has been and gone, our neigbours to the south are about to carve into their turkeys. I know what you’re thinking. Thanksgiving is about families. What’s more sexy than family? After all each started with a story about a man and a woman finding each other and deciding on a family. Think of all the wonderful romances that happen at this time of year. You know the ones we’re talking about. Sister brings home friend, brother falls for friend and on and on.
So this week I want to show you all the characters love family. Julie is someone who doesn't have much of family and suddenly they finds herself with one, however unconventional. As a child, she has always looked in and wanted a home with all the trimmings including a family. There are many ways to be thankful and you'd love to hear some of those wonderful stories.
And here's the excerpt from my Christmas novella "Deck the Halls" available through December for only $0.99.
No creature should be all alone on this frigid night
and during the festive season. It was the time best spent with loved ones, but
each year it served as a reminder to her of just how lonely she was. Julie
straightened. “Okay, not sure what Miss Molly will think of you, but the more
the merrier. Hop in.”
The dog took a step back, gave her a puzzled look
and emitted a shrill whine. Poor thing, he almost seemed to want to say
something. If he could talk this would be easy. “I know, you can smell a cat on
this blanket, but it’s a short ride to my house. Hop in so we can get going.”
The animal wagged his tail low, but did not move
from his spot.
“Don’t tell me I’d have to lift you in, because I
don’t think I can. And I would like to keep the interior clean for as long as I
can. It’s been less than a week since I took it to the auto detailing. Can’t
you smell the fresh pine?” She drew in a long breath, the scent from the
freshener dangling from the rear-view mirror filling her nostrils and waited
while the dog’s pink tongue bobbed with his panting. He seemed uncertain, but of
course he didn’t fully trust her yet. She was a stranger to him. Mist rose in
front of his mouth with his loud breathing.
“Okay, as you wish.” She was about to slam the hutch
down, but the retriever moved faster and jumped in then barked. He must’ve
disapproved of the smelly, tattered blanket she’d spread for him. Well, he was hardly
in a position to be choosy.
“That’s better.” She ruffled his fur and closed the
door.
BLURB It isn’t the string of crappy jobs, or people’s irrational urge to spend their money, or even his inability to ask Julie out on a date that Zach can’t get excited about Christmas. It is the fact that today is his last day he gets to spend in his preferred human form.
When jealous Tia, a wicked sorceress disguised as the pack’s alpha female, tries to force his wolf out a day early, all-consuming anger sends him into a rage against her. She punishes shape shifter Zach, by changing him to a dog. He has 48 hours to save his family and trade his life for someone else’s in order to break the spell—the only problem, Julie’s cat Miss Molly knows who he is and won’t let him near her owner. But Julie’s safety is the greatest importance and he sticks by her side.
Julie can’t resist falling in love with the stray dog she rescues. She prolongs putting a found dog ad in the local newspaper just to keep him for another day. Strange thing is, the animal reminds her of Zach.
Confronted with the woman who stole the man she secretly loves, Julie discovers the truth about Zach. When his dog form proves useless against the powerful alpha werewolf, the help comes from unforeseen allies.
