Happy Victoria Day!

Since today is a Canadian National holiday, I've decided to blog abut how we celebrate Victoria Day or in FrenchFête de la Reine. Observed by Canadians, also called May Long Weekend, May Two-Four or get your speeding ticket day when OPP goes on the blitz.

Celebrated on the last Monday before May 25, in honour of Queen Victoria's birthday.
The date is also, simultaneously, that on which the current reigning Canadian sovereign's official birthday is recognized. It is sometimes informally considered as marking the beginning of the summer season in Canada, when many of our national igloos melt (wink).
.
And we can put our swimsuits on.

And enjoy our national favourite food while watching fireworks over Toronto.

As a special bonus, I'll leave you with a picture of Canadian Mounties. But don't expect your average Canadian to make this spectacular entrance.

    1. Hi Debbie,

No speeding tickets, but the police presence is noted on highways and thanks I wish I look like that in my bikini. ; 0

    1. Thanks Piper,

The picture of the igloo is actually that ice hotel somewhere in Scandinavia. I wish to stay there at least once and see if I can sleep on ice bed.

    1. Hi Leslie,

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Usually the weather gets really miserable for this weekend but for the past two or so years we've been blessed with real summer on this weekend.

  4. Is that a cheeseburger? i went on a cheeseburger bender a few years ago. Every time we went out to eat, my husband and I would order a cheeseburger just so we could see who really made the best ones. The winer? A place called, aptly, Cheeseburgers in Key west.

As for the igloo, I wonder if it's true that they actually hold heat in? I may have to look it up.

Happy May two-four day! Grab a bikini, a burger, a beer and celebrate!

    1. Hi Christine,

It looks like it may be a cheeseburger, but in Canada they love their bacon aka the baconator as in Terminator.
Thanks for stopping by, I had my burger but no beer, and for the fireworks, maybe someone in the neighbourhood will blast a few rockets.
